QUERENCIA

 

 

Querencia, a Spanish word. A metaphysical concept. A place where one feels safe, a physical or mental space from where one’s strength is drawn.

Querencia refers mostly to a place known to us but not exclusively, as we can find our querencia in places where we have never been but made ours.

 

My querencia in this series, reveals the sea and the cosmos as a recognisable image, and as an abstract whole, where I become an emotional

long-distance traveller.

 

The sea and the cosmos that while in constant change and renewal, provide a continuity that helps to accept the coming and going of life itself.

A form of solace and shelter, that embraces the appearance and disappearance of the ephemeral as beautiful and inevitable.
